Oh the Places You'll Go...

Yesterday I attended the funeral service for Isla  Phipps.  Isla is the daughter of very close family friends of ours, Tim and Gerry.  She is also the sister to Ellie and Eric George.  Isla was born with Trisomy 18 and was a brave little girl.  She had the odds stacked completely against her, but held up her end of the fight for almost 3 entire months.
My sister Carolyn had the wonderful opportunity to nanny for Isla while she was here.  I believe I have the strongest, most loving, and compassionate sister that you could have.  She has been so stoic with the whole situation and I know, with complete confidence, that I could have never been as strong as she has been.  I believe she has not only learned a great deal from this situation, but I believe it has made her an even stronger person.  I love you, sis!  And I want to be more like you when I grow up.
In loving memory...

A Family Like Fudge

Mostly Sweet...with a few nuts.

We're a tight-knit crew. A loving husband, a compassionate wife, and a light-of-our-life son. What more could we ask for?

...Ok, so $100 Mill would be nice...just sayin'.

We make do with the hands we're dealt, and we strive everyday to make a positive place to raise our son. He is our guiding force that keeps us going and keeps us constantly on our toes and looking towards the future. Many tried to explain to us how child-rearing (for the record, I HATE that saying) would change our lives. I don't believe that until our son had actually arrived and we were about 4 weeks into it that we truly understood what everyone "warned" us about.

Would we change a thing? Abso-freakin-loutely NOT!!! This has been the best experience of our lives. Everyday brings new entertainment, new milestones, new challenges and new beginnings. We are so fortunate to have a front row seat to our son's daily recitals and performances. We are his biggest fans, and no matter what, we always will remain in that position.

We created this blog to share our family story. The funny things that happen, the milestones that we achieve, the stories we will tell for years to come...this is our sanctuary to put them down and share them with you.

Off we go...Full Speed Ahead!
