This post is a prime example of, "The little things".
Last night, after we finished up dinner we were all hanging out in the living room. When all of the sudden Will went into his bathroom and carried out his personal "big boy potty". As he carried out the potty he kept saying, "potty, bubbles, ... potty, bubbles."
We've been introducing Will to his "big boy potty" for the past few days now, and he is getting more and more comfortable with it. You see, he won't just sit on in, but he will if we promise to blow bubbles. So, low and behold we sat the potty down, fetched the bubbles, took off his diaper and pants and sat him atop his thrown. We blew bubble after bubble as he just sat there and smiled and popped bubbles. All of the sudden, we heard the wizzing of his pee-pee going into the pee-pee catcher! Whooo-hoooo!!! He pee-peed on the big boy potty for the first time.
You can imagine the excitement. Wes and I clapped and danced as we chanted, "pee-pee on the potty, pee-pee on the potty!" Will was THRILLED to say the least. He just smiled and clapped at himself and was very impressed by the scene that Wes and I were making.
Then we did something we probably shouldn't have...We gave him an M&M for going pee-pee on the potty. Well, now the child things that potty time requires not only bubbles, but M&M's as well. This is problaby not the healthiest way to bribe him, but you know what, whatever works. M&M's are a whole heck of a lot cheaper than diapers! ...and why do I feel like if I get the dark chocolate ones that they are somewhat healthy?
So in a nut shell, I guess you can say that today's "little thing" is Will's first pee-pee on the potty! Way to go son, we are so proud of you!! Now keep up the good work!
